This blog is our on-line classroom space to share ideas about what's going on in the course-work and readings. You'll be posting to this site frequently throughout the term. For now, I'd like you to offer a little bit of information about yourself so that I and the class can get to know you. Feel free to be honest and creative; just remember to be respectful of everyone's views and predilections.

To be fair, I'll participate, too, and mention that I am originally from central Michigan, earned my B.A. and M.A. in Literature from Iowa State University, and am now working on my PhD here at Ohio U. In my studies, I'm interested in how animals are used to represent human conceptions of gender and sexuality in literature. In my personal life I love camping and hiking, among many other things. I have a cat and a dog and houseplants. I'm a fan of sushi, fancy clothes, and intellectual conversations. I have enjoyed teaching for five years now and look forward to getting to know each one of you this term.
