Writing Log 3B hotspots

The first hotspot I chose from The Lottery by Shirley Jackson was on page 59. It said, “…That over in the north village they’re talking of giving up the lottery. Old Man Warner snorted. Pack of crazy fools.” It went on to say, “Listening to the young folks, nothing’s good enough for them.”

The second hotspot I chose was the last line of the story on page 62. It said, “It isn’t fair, it isn’t right, Mrs. Hutchinson screamed, and then they were upon her.”

The first hotspot I found in How To Tell a True War Story by Tim O’Brien was on page 94. “A true war story is never moral. It does not instruct, nor encourage virtue, nor suggest models of proper human behavior, nor restrain men from doing the things men have always done. If a story seems moral, don’t believe it.”

The second hotspot I chose from this story was on page 100. “Hear that quiet man?” He said. “That quiet—just listen. There’s your moral.”
